What is the exhibition?

The American Institute of Architects Center for Emerging Professionals sponsors an annual exhibition of architectural work, design, and art from the rising generation of architecture and design professionals. Have you created an incredible design project? Taken a beautiful photo? Mastered the art of modeling? We want to showcase your work!

What is the theme?

The theme of this year’s exhibition is It Takes a Community. All entries must align with the theme in some way. Examples include (but are not limited to) artwork highlighting communities and collaboration, community based design projects, and collaborative projects. There is a section on the application for submitters to explain how their creative work relates to the theme. We highly encourage submitters to develop new artwork or designs that align with the theme.

Who can submit?

Submissions are accepted from any architecture student, recent graduate, or architect licensed less than ten years, per the AIA’s definition of emerging professionals. Submissions from AIA and AIAS members receive priority for display, but the exhibition strives to be inclusive of all emerging professionals within the fields of architecture and design.

What can be submitted?

In order to best represent the diversity and talents of emerging professionals, the AIA accepts submissions of varying representation of design works and encourages the creative use of the exhibition space as well as the use of alternative and mixed media. Accepted submission types include: project boards with renderings, models, photography, painting, drawing/drawing sets and video. Submissions can be the result of personal pursuits or work in a firm, class, studio, or design competition.

Selections

Exhibit pieces will be selected by a jury architecture and design professionals. Selections will be judged on the following criteria: overall design concept, quality of graphical or physical elements, quality of description, and relevance to theme It Takes a Community.

Submissions will be open until 11:59pm EST on April 19, 2016. Selections will be announced in June 2016.
