The
International Institute for Asian Studies,
Leiden University and
GIS Asie (French Academic Network on Asian Studies) are organising the 11th International Convention of Asia Scholars (ICAS), which is the most inclusive international gathering in the field of Asian Studies. ICAS attracts participants from over 60 countries to engage in global dialogues on Asia that transcend boundaries between academic disciplines and geographic areas. The meeting place for the eleventh edition of ICAS is Leiden, the Netherlands. The historic city of Leiden is home to one of the oldest universities, Leiden University, and several of the most renowned Asia research centers. Leiden University will be the main host of ICAS 11, partnering with the city, research institutions and museums, who share equally rich Asian and global connections.
Call for proposals – deadline: closed
The submission deadline was 10 October. It is no longer possible to submit a proposal.
Proposal applicants will be notified before 31 December 2018 about the selection results.
Further information about registration fees, accommodation, and logistics will be provided on the ICAS website after completion of the review process.

Participants of ICAS 11 are expected to fund their own registration fee, travel and accommodation. Limited financial support is available for selected PhD students, early career scholars and registered members of GIS Asie. Please note, it is no longer possible to submit a grant application form (deadline was 10 October).
